Lee Valley VeloPark is inviting the public to its 10th anniversary celebration, with the open day promising family friendly cycling, fitness activities and fun for all at heavily discounted prices on Saturday (April 6).

The magic of the London 2012 Olympic Games is still alive and inspiring the next generation of cyclists on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Shaun Dawson, chief executive at Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, said: "This is a moment to be extremely proud, over the past decade Lee Valley VeloPark has delivered an inclusive and accessible cycling legacy for millions of people."

Over the past decade this iconic venue has welcomed 8.2 million people and secured its place in the history books by hosting 18 major international sporting events, including World Cups, World Championships and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

It is the only venue in the world to have hosted an Olympics, Paralympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games in the same sport.

The world-class facilities boast four Olympic cycling disciplines - track in the velodrome, BMX, mountain bike trails and floodlight road circuit.

"Whether it’s first-time riders, cycling clubs, school children or members of the local community, we’ve broadened participation in cycling and given people of all backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to enjoy cycling in world-class facilities." added Dawson.

Leo Valley Park blends a mixture of commercial hire, private events, community and elite programmes. This helps create a wonderful community of people enjoying sport, regardless of ability, age, background, and gender.

Lee Valley VeloPark is managed by the charitable social enterprise GLL. The organisation’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity has enabled individuals from a variety of backgrounds to experience the thrill of cycling on the same track where records have been shattered by stars like Sir Bradley Wiggins and Dame Laura Kenny.

"As part of the celebrations, we will be offering discounted activities and opening the iconic venue to everyone to enjoy," said Keith Griffiths, general manager at the VeloPark.

"Here's to another decade of thrilling rides, record breaking performances, and healthier communities."
