Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has earned his first England Under-21 call-up, days after scoring his maiden Premier League goal in Spurs' 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

The 19-year-old is joined in Gareth Southgate's 23-man squad - which includes 14 new faces - by Spurs teammate Eric Dier.

England face the USA in a friendly at Preston North End's Deepdale on Thursday, September 3.

Alli scored in Saturday's draw at the King Power Stadium in what was just his second Premier League outing since moving from MK Dons in January in a £5 million deal.

Dier, 21, is a veteran of eight caps for the Under-21s but was part of the squad which crashed out at the group stages of this summer's European Championships in the Czech Republic.

The centre-back-cum-right-back has started each of Tottenham's three Premier League fixtures this season, scoring once.
