Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm says tonight's League Cup semi-final second leg against Sheffield United is Spurs' biggest game of the season (kick off 7.45pm).

Mauricio Pochettino's side take a 1-0 lead into the second leg at Bramall Lane, courtesy of Andros Townsend's second-half penalty in last week's tie at White Hart Lane.

Nigel Clough's Blades have a proud record against Premier League sides under the former Nottingham Forest and Burton Albion manager though, having seen of West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Fulham in his time in charge.

Speaking to the club's website ahead of tonight's tussle in Yorkshire, Vorm stated: “At the moment, it has to be the biggest game of the season.

“For every player there is a huge opportunity to go and play in a major final in an amazing stadium with an incredible atmosphere. It’s all for the club and the fans.”

The Netherlands international continued: “They defended very well and to be honest we have a lot of respect for them. We couldn’t break them down and we didn’t create too many big chances.

“We tried especially in the second half to put the pressure on a little bit more but you also have to keep in mind that you don’t want to concede.

“They need to attack because they need to win. It could open up for us and we need to take advantage of the space if we can.

"We also know it won’t be easy and we’ll need to play at the top of our game to get a result.”

The prize on offer is a trip to Wembley to face Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in the final next month and head coach Pochettino is all too aware of the importance of a game under the famous Wembley arch.

He said: “We have the possibility to get to the final at Wembley and we all realise this is important for the club, for the supporters and for us as well."

Tottenham have a clean bill of health going into tonight's second leg, whilst the Blades will hand late fitness tests to Ryan Flynn and Chris Basham.

Jay McEveley - who gave away the penalty in north London last week - is expected to return after missing the trip to Preston North End at the weekend.
