Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane scored his sixth international goal as England Under-21s beat Croatia 2-1 in their European Championship play-off first leg.

Gareth Southgate’s side will take a slender lead to Croatia after goals from Kane and Saido Berahino helped England overcome Marko Livaja.

Tom Carroll - currently on loan at Swansea City - also started and played 90 minutes for the Three Lions, whilst defender Eric Dier came off the bench at half-time in place of Michael Keane.

Brentford loanee Alex Pritchard was not involved in the matchday squad.

England will play the second leg of their 2015 Under-21 European Championship play-off in Vinkovci on Tuesday.

Andros Townsend was an unused substitute in England’s 1-0 win over Estonia in qualifying for the 2016 European Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Nacer Chadli scored for Belgium in their 6-0 win over Andorra in European Championship qualifying on Sunday.

Left-back Ben Davies played the full 90 minutes as Wales drew 0-0 with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their qualifier at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Wales are away to Andorra on Tuesday.

Romanian centre-back Vlad Chiriches played the full 90 minutes as Romania drew 1-1 against Hungary in Bucharest on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Romania travel to Finland in their next Group F qualifier.

A late equaliser saw Christian Eriksen’s Denmark draw 1-1 in Albania in their Group I European Championship qualifier. Denmark host Portugal on Tuesday evening.

In African Cup of Nations qualifying, Emmanuel Adebayor helped Togo to a 1-0 win in Uganda. Togo host Uganda on Wednesday.

Elsewhere in qualifying for next year’s African Cup of Nations, Nabil Bentaleb played 81 minutes for Algeria in their 2-0 win in Malawi.

Algeria will aim for a similar result when they host Malawi on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Erik Lamela played 61 minutes for Argentina in their 2-0 defeat to Brazil in Beijing, before being replaced by PSG’s Javier Pastore.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was an unused substitute as France beat Portugal 2-1 in a friendly on Saturday. Steve Mandanda of Marseille started in place of the Les Bleus’ captain.

Lloris could be involved as France travel to Armenia for another friendly on Tuesday.
