London Blitz Youth will compete for a place in the national finals this Sunday when they host Birmingham Lions.
Finsbury Park-based Blitz face the Lions for the first time in the team’s history. Both teams went undefeated during the regular season.
If successful, this will see a return to the national championship game for the Blitz on September 20 at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.
The side missed out on a third straight title after losing a close semi-final game last season to the London Warriors, who went on to win the competition.
The Blitz finished the regular season with the number two ranked offence in the country and the number one ranked defence. This helped them secure the top seeding going into the post season.
Birmingham are ranked fifth for offence and fourth in defence which leaves them fourth overall in the country.
The semi-final will kick off at 12pm at Finsbury Park Stadium and is the junior team’s final home game this season. Entrance is free for all spectators.
