Two men have been arrested over the death of a 25-year-old who was found with fatal stab wounds in the street.

The victim was discovered seriously injured in Glendale Avenue, Wood Green, north London, at around 4.45am on Tuesday and, despite first aid from paramedics, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe he was attacked at a house in nearby Maryland Road, and managed to escape but could not survive his injuries.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday afternoon and released on bail until later in the month; and a second man, aged 29, was held on Wednesday morning and remains in custody.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers said: "I am appealing for anyone in the area of Maryland Road or Glendale Avenue who saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of the morning, particularly between 4am and 5am.

"At this early stage we believe that the man was attacked inside an address in nearby Maryland Road but managed to escape outside, and attempt to get away, ending up in Glendale Avenue.

"We are keeping an open mind regarding the possible motivation behind this murder, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help."

The man's family have not yet been told.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Wednesday afternoon.
