A man has been jailed for more than six years after he stabbed a 40-year-old man in an unprovoked attacked.

Patrick Torrado, 23, of Copperfield Drive, in Tottenham, pleaded guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm at Wood Green Crown Court.

Torrado knifed the man on his torso, legs and arm in Broad Road, Tottenham on Wednesday, March 4.

The attack was seen by a cab driver who called the police.

The same driver then picked up Torrado a few days later in his cab and refused to pay the fare at the end of the journey and threatened the driver by saying: “A few days ago I stabbed a Polish guy, don't make me stab you too."

The cab driver then witnessed Torrado walk into his home address.

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of a pair of trainers that matched those seen worn by Torrado in the CCTV and a lock knife, which was found in his mother's bedroom.

Tests found Torrado's DNA inside the trainers and the victim's blood on the upper outer part of the trainers. The knife also had Torrado's DNA on it.

Detective Constable Pembe Rayif, of Haringey CID, said: "This was a vicious unprovoked attack on the victim. I am therefore happy that Torrado has justifiably been sent to prison for a considerable amount of time."

He also pleaded guilty to one count of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of making off without payment for which he was sentenced to two years, and three months respectively, to run concurrently.
