Repairs are underway at Finsbury Park following damage caused by chaos at Wireless Festival.

Hundreds of people smashed through gates and stormed into the festival on more than one occasion and there were violent skirmishes as others attempted to get in without a ticket.

Pathways were damaged as a result of the festival and grass is set to be re-seeded to help restore the park.

Volunteers and festival goers were left stunned by the antics with volunteer Luciano Barrow saying:“I’ve never felt so disgusted in my life at the behaviour of these youths.

“200 people managed to get in after forcing their way through the barrier and then be removed by security.”

Haringey Council cabinet member for environment Cllr Stuart McNamara said: “I’m pleased that we have been able to start work on restoring the park’s pathways and hope to have this work completed as soon as possible.

“The vast majority of this year’s Wireless Festival was well managed, with tens of thousands of people enjoying themselves safely and a minimal amount of damage to the park. Where issues did arise, we will be discussing these with Live Nation.”
