A friends group has celebrated its 15th year of hosting a free art event.

Friends of Downhills Park, in Haringey, gave people of all ages including children the chance to learn about art and hone their creative skills.

Hundreds of children joined together to help create a mosaic at the park, whilst pictures were painted and plasticine models were created.

Rod Wells, members of the park group said: “It was another fantastic event and it really gives people something different to do in the area.

“Everything has been very positive and puts a smile back on people’s faces which is why we do it every years.”

People made use of the glorious weather to hold picnics and use the community café.

Mr Wells added: “We like to have a sense of community in the area and doing things like this only helps bolster our community spirit.”

The friends park group member hopes the arts event can continue for years to come and called on more children and adults to take up art.
