Police have released pictures of a man found with burns to his body and chest in the hope of finding out what happened to him.

Bilel Ayadi, 34, was found in Woodberry Grove, Manor House shortly after 11pm last Monday, bare-chested and with burns to his body and neck.

He has not been able to provide information as he is still in a medically-induced coma and police are urging the public to help them find out how his injuries were caused.

Officers have managed to establish the route he took from south Tottenham to Manor House on that evening.

Mr Ayadi was picked up on CCTV walking south in Broad Lane towards Seven Sisters tube station before crossing the A10 and continuing down Seven Sisters Road.

He walked down Seven Sisters Road to Manor House tube station, turned right into Green Lanes and right again into Woodberry Grove.

The Algerian was spotted by two security guards who called police and the London Ambulance Service to the scene.

Detective Constable Anwen Clissold of Hackney CID said: "I am appealing to anyone who saw Bilel that night, or knows how he sustained his injuries, to come forward and speak to police.

"Bilel would have been very distinctive given that he was bare-chested while walking through north London for two miles. It may well be that he was already injured as he made his way through the streets.

"We are still trying to establish what has caused his burns but what we do know is that a young man has sustained some very serious injuries, I need to find out how."

Officers are still trying to trace a person who is believed to have spoken with Bilel on Seven Sisters Road opposite the junction with Amhurst Park.

Mr Ayadi has lived in the UK for around six years and has been resident in South Tottenham for the last year and a half.

He is 5ft 11inches tall, of medium build and has recently been suffering from depression but was not believed to have been prescribed any medication.

His brother, Abderrezak Ayadi, appealed for anyone with information to come forward. He said: "Bilel is my brother and at this moment he is lying in hospital with terrible injuries. Imagine if this was someone from your family? We just need to find out exactly what happened to him. If you have any information, please call the police."

Anyone with information can contact Hackney Police on 101 quoting CAD6543/29MARCH15.
