Christmas shoppers hitting the borough’s high streets this weekend will be in for an extra treat as Haringey Council waives parking charges.

On Saturday and Sunday it will be free to park in any council car park or pay and display bay across the borough.

Haringey Council cabinet member for environment Cllr Stuart McNamara said: “With free parking and a huge host of stores on your doorstep, there is no need to go far from home for your Christmas shopping this weekend.

"We want residents to enjoy all the fantastic facilities that Haringey’s town centres have to offer and are committed to continuing to make the borough’s high street’s clean, safe and attractive places to visit.”

It is the second time this year that Haringey Council has waived parking charges in the run up to Christmas. Motorists also enjoyed free parking on Small Business Saturday earlier this month.

Controlled parking zones and other essential parking restrictions (such as if roadworks are taking place or yellow lines) will remain in force, including the match day parking controls around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
