Men in Haringey are 15 per cent more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than average.
Figures from Public Health England also show that black men in the UK are twice as likely to be diagnosed with the disease.
Public Health England says 1 in 4 black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lives, compared to the 1 in 8 chance of diagnosis faced by all men.
Haringey is now one of six London boroughs to be targeted by a new campaign, Be Clear On Cancer, led by PHE, that aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
The six pilot boroughs, Haringey, Hackney, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, and Southwark, accounted for 20 per cent of the total number of prostate cancer cases in London between 2010 and 2012.
EastEnders actor Rudolph Walker and premier league coach Les Ferdinand are both taking part in awareness-raising activities.
