A group of Haringey mothers became master chefs after successfully completing a five-week healthy cooking workshop at their local Salvation Army centre.
The amateur cooks learnt a range of skills from understanding nutritional information and keeping to a budget to cooking up quick and mouth-watering masterpieces.
They took part in the course thanks to a £1,000 donation from the housing association Sanctuary Housing.
The free workshop was organised by community café, Filling the Gap and supported with a £1,000 donation from Sanctuary Housing’s Grand Ideas Fund.
Ebony Skerrit attended the course. She said: “I’m privileged to have been able to take part in this course.
“It has expanded my repertoire of recipes and my knowledge of healthy eating.”
Kate McMath King, from Filling the Gap, said: “The cooking workshop was a great success and everyone who attended enjoyed cooking affordable and nutritious food.
“Everyone here at Filling the Gap is hugely grateful for the funding from Sanctuary Housing and we welcome anyone in the neighbourhood to come along to our café to try some healthy dishes and pick up some affordable recipes.”
